Arnold G. Blair III
Sr. Staff Attorney, WilmerHale
Mr. Blair is a senior staff attorney in the firm's Litigation/Controversy Department. He joined the firm in 2004. Mr. Blair focuses his practice on issues of e-discovery. Specifically, he works with other attorneys, litigation technology project managers, and paralegals on teams that manage electronic and other documents in large cases and investigations. Attorneys on these teams take a leadership role in the document control process, systematically tracking documents from preservation to collection and through review and production. They work with e-discovery vendors and their review and analytical tools; review documents; train and oversee other firm and contract attorneys who review documents; and partner with project managers to perform production quality control. Mr. Blair holds his JD, cum laude, from New York Law School and BA from Rutgers University.

The Hon. Mark Cavanagh
Michigan Second District Court of Appeals
Mark J. Cavanagh is a judge on the Michigan Second District Court of Appeals. He was elected to the Court in 1988 and his current term expires January 1, 2015. Judge Cavanagh received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and his law degree from the Detroit College of Law. Prior to his election to the Court of Appeals, Judge Cavanagh worked as a special assistant attorney general, an assistant Wayne County prosecutor and as an attorney in private practice.
Kunoor Chopra, Esq.

Jeffrey Fowler

Jeffrey Fowler is a member of O'Melveny & Myers LLP Class Actions, Mass Torts, and Aggregated Litigation Practice. He is also one of the founders and leaders of the Electronic Discovery and Document Retention Practice and one of the few litigators whose litigation practice is entirely dedicated to electronic discovery issues.
He became the Firm’s go-to electronic discovery lawyer and consults on dozens of Litigation Department matters each year. Jeff presently serves on the legal team representing Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. in its civil antitrust lawsuit against Intel Corporation.
Jeff consults with clients on topics related to electronic discovery, including document retention practices, data security issues, information technology usage policies, trade secret misappropriation investigations, and litigation preparedness plans. He has earned a national reputation as a noted speaker and writer on electronic discovery issues. He is a regular panelist for Strafford Teleconferences and is presently contributing to a treatise for BNA publishing.

Ron Friedmann

Ron Friedmann is SVP, Marketing for Integreon, which provides outsourced knowledge and legal support to professionals in law, finance, and corporations. A lawyer by training, Ron has spent two decades improving law practice and business with technology, knowledge management, and outsourcing.
Previously, he was the principal of Prism Legal Consulting, Inc. He also has extensive experience in large law firms – CIO at Mintz Levin and practice support at Wilmer Cutler – and at two legal market software companies. Prior to entering the legal market in 1989, Ron worked as a strategy consultant for Bain & Co. and economic analyst for Data Resources, Inc.
Ron has a JD from NYU School of Law (’86) and BA in Economics from Oberlin College (’79). Linda A. Klein is Managing Shareholder in the Firm's Georgia offices and a member of the Firm's Board of Directors. In 1998, Georgia Trend Magazine named her one of the 100 most powerful and influential Georgians. Browning Marean (Past Board Member)

Browning Marean is a member of the DLA Piper Litigation Group and is co-chair of the Electronic Discovery Readiness and Response Group. Mr. Marean serves on DLA Piper's Technology Committee and is an emeritus member of the California State Bar Law Practice Management Committee. He is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association Ethics Committee and the Sedona Conference.
Mr. Marean is a nationally known teacher and lecturer on various topics including electronic discovery, records retention, knowledge management and computer technology. He is co-author of the 2008 edition of Electronic Discovery and Records Management Guide, Rules, Checklists and Forms, published by Thomson West, and Conducting Discovery in an Electronic World: Electronic Data and Discovery, published by California Civil Discovery Practice. He has been named a San Diego Super Lawyer.
Mr. Marean received his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Stanford University.
Douglass A. Mitchell (Chairperson of the Board of Governors)

Douglass A. Mitchell is an attorney with the law firm of Boies, Schiller & Flexner. In 1995, the Federal District Court Judges in Nevada appointed him to be a mentor in the district’s criminal defense training program. In his capacity as a mentor, he trains and prepares defense attorneys to practice criminal law in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He has served as Chairman of the Attorney Advisory Committee on Implementation of CM/ECF electronic case filing system for the Federal District Court for the District of Nevada. Mr. Mitchell has also been a member of the Local Working Group on Electronic Technology in the Criminal Justice System for the Federal District Court for the District of Nevada and is currently a member of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts Office of Defender Services Ad Hoc Expert Panel on Litigation Support in Criminal Justice Act Cases.

Nigel Murray

Nigel Murray has been at the forefront of providing electronic document management services since the early 1990s. He began his career in legal technology as litigation support manager at a major London-based international law firm. He then started the first British litigation support company in 1993 - Bowhawk. There, he worked on the massive cases of the 90’s - tobacco, BCCI etc. From there, Nigel brought the electronic side of litigation support into an existing document management company by way of a merger.
Having worked on the first UK eDisclosure matter in 2001, Nigel has been at the forefront of the development of the industry within the major law firms in the UK. Nigel launched TRILANTIC in September of 2005 and speaks regularly on all aspects of eDiscovery in the US, the UK and mainland Europe.
Tom O'Connor

Tom O'Connor is a nationally known consultant, speaker and writer in the area of computerized litigation support systems. He is a New England native who graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1972 with a BA in Political Science and holds a J.D. degree.
Tom's involvement with large cases led him to become familiar with dozens of various software applications for litigation support and he has both designed databases and trained legal staffs. Tom has been on the faculty of numerous national CLE providers and currently teaches a course on legal technology in an ABA approved paralegal program at a local college. He is a member of the American Bar Foundation and the Governing Council of the Law Practice Management Section of the ABA. A frequent lecturer on legal technology, Tom has been on the faculty of numerous national CLE providers and is a member of the advisory board of the national LegalTech conferences. A prolific writer with articles in numerous legal publications, he is the Editor of several legal newsletters. Tom is the author of The Automated Law Firm, a guide to computer systems and software (Aspen Law & Business), now in its fourth edition and The Lawyers Guide to Summation, published by the ABA.
Patrick Oot (Past Board Member)

Patrick is Director of Electronic Discovery and Senior Litigation Counsel at Verizon in Washington, D.C. Inside Counsel Magazine named Verizon's e-discovery team as one of the ten most innovative legal groups of 2006 and 2007. Patrick has extensive experience in discovery practices involving commercial litigation, regulatory filings, and antitrust matters. He is charged with advising Verizon's business units on electronic discovery while developing new technologies and strategies that meet the goals of Rule 1 of The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. He has also testified as Verizon's 30(b)(6) witness for discovery-related inquiries in other matters. Patrick has testified before the United States Judicial Conference's Advisory Committee on the Federal Rules of Evidence where he presented Verizon's position and contributed language included in its draft to the Judicial Conference. Patrick actively participates in The Sedona Conference® Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Product. He lectures regularly at educational events, legal conferences, and general counsel round tables internationally.
Herb Roitblat, Ph.D.

Herb is a co-founder and principal at OrcaTec LLC. Before starting Orcatec, Herb was Executive Vice President, Chief Scientist, and co-founder of DolphinSearch. He is the primary inventor of the core DolphinSearch technology (patent No. 6,189,002). Herb led the design of the DolphinSearch review tools, DIAD, and ComplianSeek, and was part of the team that brought concept searching and native file review to the eDiscovery industry. He was also responsible for DolphinSearch’s Federal Market efforts.
Herb is a recognized expert in cognitive science, information management, data mining, statistics, and eDiscovery processes. He has been writing about data mining and how technology can ease the burden of eDiscovery. Herb was an award-winning Professor of Psychology at the University of Hawaii from 1985 until 2002. He taught courses in cognitive science and research methods. He has a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California-Berkeley. He served as Assistant Professor of Psychology at Columbia University until he joined the faculty at the University of Hawaii. Herb is a Past President of the Division of Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology of the American Psychological Association and Past President of the International Society for Adaptive Behavior. In 2002, he received the Clifford T. Morgan award for distinguished contributions to behavioral neuroscience.

Eddie Sheehy

Eddie Sheehy has been the CEO of Nuix since 2006 and has overseen the commercialization of the company’s eDiscovery and electronic investigation software following seven years of research and development in Australia. Developed in collaboration with federal intelligence and security/regulatory agencies as well as legal and litigation support firms, Nuix software offers the world’s fast and most comprehensive eDiscovery and email investigation software. Eddie has been instrumental in helping Nuix secure government and commercial customers in around 20 countries across the world as well as a number of prestigious partners and resellers.
Born and educated in Ireland, Eddie has 17 years experience in finance and technology management. Prior to joining Nuix, Eddie was a partner at a consulting firm which facilitated major projects and deals for leading technology companies and financial institutions. Eddie also has extensive experience in the investment banking and merger and acquisition industries gained in both Australia and London, prior to his migration to Sydney in 1996. Eddie holds a Bachelor degree in commerce and a Masters degree in finance from the University of Cork (Ireland).

Madison received his J.D. degree from the Duke University School of Law. He has extensive experience litigating complex, often multiform, business and media asset disputes. A large portion of Mr. Spach's practice has consisted of representing media and video game companies in constitutional claims involving state and municipal agencies. Christy K. Stouffer

Christy Stouffer is the firm-wide Director of Practice Support Services for the Business and Litigation Departments at Patton Boggs LLP. She is a member of the firm's Technology and E-Discovery Committees. Christy began her law firm career as a working Paralegal Manager at Cleary, Glottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in Washington, DC where she spent eleven years building and managing their paralegal program. From Cleary Gottlieb, she took the position of firm-wide Paralegal Manager at Arent Fox and then moved to Steptoe & Johnson where she held the position of Director of Practice Support and Paralegals for all offices.
Christy is a past president of the International Paralegal Management Association (IPMA), served on the IPMA Board for six years, and chaired numerous IPMA committees. She held the position of DC Chapter Chair for five years. Christy is a member of the Georgetown University Paralegal Studies Program Advisory Board and a former member of the program's faculty. She is a frequent speaker and author on issues affecting the paralegal profession and legal technology at conferences and other professional venues.
Joe Thorpe (Co-Founding Member)

Joseph Thorpe began his career in the IT industry in 1973 with Wang Laboratories and became the West Coast Director of Wang Laboratories Legal Solutions Group. He was responsible for the planning and design that resulted in several leading Los Angeles based law firm's first step into automated litigation support via large integrated mini-based computer systems using the Wang VS-IIS technologies.
Mr. Thorpe has been a pioneer in the application of AI based OCR and document coding solutions, Machine Language Translation technologies as well as Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) algorithms for concept searching and document cataloging as well as cross lingual document searching (concept searching across languages). His particular expertise lies in design and delivery of unified litigation support systems, which unite both paper and ESI evidence into a single multi-functional repository. Mr. Thorpe is frequent speaker and panelist on the use of specialized Litigation support and document indexing and management technologies in numerous meetings of attorneys, including: The American Bar Association, California Bar Association, The Rutter Group, The National Business Institute and Lorman.
David Werblow, Esq.

David Werblow is currently Senior Corporate Counsel, eDiscovery at T-Mobile in Seattle, WA. In addition to overseeing e-discovery at T-Mobile, Werblow serves as an instructor in the trend-setting Electronic Discovery Management program conducted at the University of Washington Professional and Continuing Education. Before joining T-Mobile, he was a staff lawyer in the e-Discovery Analysis and Technology group at K&L Gates, where he managed intensive discovery efforts and provided advice and support on every aspect of discovery, from litigation readiness to preservation, through collection, review and production of documents. He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota, and his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.

Laura Zubulake
Consultant
Laura A. Zubulake worked on Wall Street for 20 years in institutional equity departments. In her various roles, she consulted on and marketed global convertible and derivative securities, macro-economic analysis, and research on Asian equities to mutual, hedge, and pension funds. In 1991, her book The Complete Guide to Convertible Securities Worldwide was published by John Wiley & Sons. She earned a B.S. degree in finance from Indiana University and a M.B.A. degree in economics from New York University.
In February 2002 she became the plaintiff in Zubulake v. UBS, a lawsuit alleging claims of gender discrimination and retaliation against her former employer. She was intimately involved in all aspects of her case making key decisions concerning electronic discovery throughout litigation. Rather than pursue settlement, she opted to search for evidence she believed existed in e-mails captured on backup tapes. Her multi-year efforts resulted in several landmark opinions concerning counsel’s obligations for the preservation of electronically stored information. In April 2005, a federal jury unanimously found in favor of Ms. Zubulake on both claims and awarded one of, if not the largest jury awards in the United States for a single plaintiff in an employment discrimination case. In October 2005, the parties settled privately. The December 2006 changes to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure were in part influenced by the Zubulake opinions concerning electronic discovery.
